Why a Deluxe
A gooseneck trailer swings its neck over the tractor’s frame, and the Roadmaster’s frame is too short for one: the neck meets the sleeper. The Deluxe is the TWC Roadmaster 6x4 Tractor with the drive tandem and the fifth wheel 0.85 m further back. The same cab, sleeper and hood, the same cab view and gauges, lights, damage states and levels of detail, and the same coupling. It pulls every TWC Roadmaster and Quartermaster trailer, and its own three: with both mods installed, that’s two Roadmaster tractors and six trailers, the original’s three dry vans and the Deluxe’s three goosenecks.
The trailers
- TWC Quartermaster 53’ Step Deck: an 11-foot upper deck over the fifth wheel and a step down to the long lower deck over the tandem, with yellow ramps that slide out of its tail.
- TWC Quartermaster 53’ Lowboy: a fixed gooseneck that swoops down to a well deck about two and a half feet off the road, then rises to the rear deck, with the same slide-out ramps.
- TWC Quartermaster 53’ Recovery Lowboy: black and safety yellow, a recovery winch over the fifth wheel with an amber light frame, a long low well between heavy beam sides with D-rings, and a beavertail with flip ramps. It takes the lab’s own trucks too, the TWC Workmaster mixer included.
Hauling a vehicle
Park the trailer and get out. Park the vehicle right behind the trailer or right beside it; it doesn’t have to touch. Hold E on the trailer and pick Winch vehicle on: the winch pulls it on, up the ramps from behind, and chains it down. On V3.3 the vehicle’s own menu has Winch onto trailer too. Unload vehicle sets it back down behind or beside the trailer. A chained vehicle can’t be driven or picked up until it’s unloaded, and a chained load comes back on its trailer when the world loads again. The goosenecks haul vehicles, so they have no storage of their own.
Livery kits
Every TWC Roadmaster livery kit fits the tractor and the three trailers: Fleet White, Weathered, Rusted, Black and Gold, Vampire and Blacked Out, their unbranded twins, the Commandery and Stock kits, and the two-tones from TWC Roadmaster Unbranded Liveries. Put a kit in the dye slot; take it out for the stock look.
Tested
Taroos tested 1.0.0 on V3.3 on 22 October with a livery kit on each trailer: the slide-out ramps, seventeen vehicles winched on (a gyrocopter, minibikes, a motorcycle, 4x4s and the mixer onto the recovery lowboy), nine unloaded, and seven chained vehicles back on their trailers after a reload. The same morning he tested the V2.6 file on our second machine, on V2.6: the Deluxe and all three trailers with kits, the ramps, vehicles winched on from behind and from beside, unloaded, and every chained vehicle back after a new game and two reloads. His word on the ramps: “the slide outs, I really like them, man.” The winch was tested on our own dedicated server with a second machine joined on 19 October; the Deluxe tractor itself was not on that test.
Crafting
- The tractor: 10 wheels, 3 truck chassis, 2 truck accessories, 2 small engines, 2 car batteries, at the workbench.
- Each trailer: 8 wheels, 3 truck chassis and 1 set of truck accessories, at the workbench.
Trader Bob sells the tractor and the trailers from day one.
Requirements
- TWC Roadmaster Tractor Trailer Combo 2.0.0 or later, installed beside it: the Deluxe runs on its code.
- Game build: 7 Days to Die V3.3, or V2.6 (b14) with the V2.6 downloads of both mods. On V2.6 you winch from the trailer’s menu.
- EAC off. Multiplayer: the server and every player need the same folders.
