Why a truck
The infrastructure pack is built to be driven, and nothing tests a highway like an articulated vehicle. The Smart-Fifth project is the Roadmaster 6x4 tractor, a 53-foot dry van, and the coupling between them.
What works today
- Both vehicles load, drive, and render in the game with custom bodies and item icons.
- The fifth wheel couples and releases on a native four-second cycle with no scripted teleport.
- Twin landing gear drops and retracts automatically on release and coupling.
- Coupling geometry is measured in a shared marker frame so tractor and trailer stay in agreement across rebuilds.
What does not, yet
- The steer axle has not been through the same tuning loop as the drive axles, and it shows as a light front end at speed.
- Body work is a first pass. The Night Sovereign concept is the direction, not the final surface.
- The coupled rig has not yet been driven across the new interchange tiles. That drive is the next proof.
Prototype means prototype. It is called a mechanical prototype on its own milestone record, and it will stay off the Downloads page until the coupled highway drive is on film.
